Phytase hydrolyzes phytate into inorganic phosphorus, Ca2+, Mg2+, Zn2+, Fe2+, etc, so that removes the inhibition of phytic acid to digestive enzyme, improves the utilization of phosphorus to prevent the phosphate deficiency, improves the nutrition availability of mineral elements and protein in food and feed, and improves the capacity of energy balancing and disease risistance. Meanwhile, it reduces the excretion of phosphorus phytate and environmental pollution. At present, phytase is mainly used in animal feed. However, in foreign countries, it has been used to deal with food to hydrolyse phytate in food and reduce the chelation of phytic acid and microelements, so as to improve the nutritive value.of food. In addition, it was said that phytase could be used to produce phaseomannite.
Phytase has a big market in China. According to the statistics, Chinas total output of feed in 2005 is about 100 million tons. In European countries, the use rate of phytase in feed is up to 35%. In China, if we use phytase in the same rate, the annual consumption of phytase will reach 26.5 trillion units, or about RMB 600 million yuan. In 1998, foreign companies have estimated if the use rate of phytase in China reach the European level, the future market capacity would be around 1 billion a year. Considering factors as international prices fall, the domestic market capacity is estimated at RMB 500-700 million Yuan a year.
Some experts expected that Chinas feed production would remain an annual growth rate of 5% to 6% in the future, thus the growth rate of output value of phytase should also be maintained at the appropriate level.
To produce highly competitive phytase, high-tech production level is deeded. Currently, most of domestic manufacturers produce phytase by solid fermentation with wild or modified bacteria, which has already been eliminated in foreign countries because of its high cost and low productivity. The modern research direction is to, with the genetic engineering technology , construct strains in a high expression level, and modify the gene structure of phytase so as to increase its specific activity and stability. Supported by famous Laboratory of Fudan University, our company have strong technical strength in genetic engineering technology. Once our new product is on the market, we are sure, it will occupy a superior position in both domestic and internationa market with strong competitiveness.
This product is expected to create an annual output value of at least RMB 5 million Yuan, and with a growth rate of 10% to 20%. This will expand our companys development space and enhance competitiveness.
